About Emily

I was born in Santa Cruz, California. My mother represented the USA in two different Olympic games. She started my older sisters on the swim team at young ages, and I didn't want to be left out.
I began competitive swimming before I could speak in full sentences. I trained for two years with Skip Kenney the Head Coach of Stanford University, went to Senior Nationals three years in a row, and won second place at the Alcatraz Annual Sharkfest open water swim.
After a career ending shoulder injury, I decided to use my knowledge and background in swimming to help others. I have been teaching swim lessons for three years now, and have had nothing but satisfied clients!

About Rebekah

I grew up in fabulous Las Vegas but moved to Arizona when I was a freshman in high school. I swam for Aqua Fria High school in Avondale, AZ. I won state in diving my freshman year in 2003. I became a lifeguard for Clark County Aquatics in 2006 where I got my Water Safety Instructor certification.
In the Summer of 2007 I decided I would rather teach swim lessons exclusively and was hired at a local swim school. After gaining some more experience there, I realized that I would be more productive working with students individually according to the specific needs of each student, instead of following a set curriculum.
So I now teach private lessons in the clients own pools which allows me to build a more solid foundation for each child. I love it! I look forward to working with your child and will strive for a successful 2008!

About Jarvis

As a pre-teen my mother worried that the Tennessee winters would prevent me from being active. So when pounds started to show she signed me up for swimming at the local indoor pool. Twenty years later I am still in the water and loving it. I currently swim for the Henderson Southern Nevada Masters and compete on Iron Man relays (my leg is 2.1 miles in Lake Mead).
I came to Las Vegas in 1994 on a swimming scholarship to UNLV, focusing on back stroke and freestyle. I am a four year letterman and still very active with the team. I have a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in History and currently working on a M.A. in American History. I plan on teaching night classes at CCSN after I graduate.
During the college summers I worked as a lifeguard for the Clark County Pools & Recreation Department and managed Paradise Pool. I have taught swim lessons to hundreds of children over the years; ranging from six months to eighteen. I also coached many of the future competitive swimmers in this valley, with a few of them current and former college swimmers.
From the Parks & Recreation Department I joined up with a local competitive swim team, the Clark County Sandpipers, to be an Assistant Swim Coach. I have had kids go on to Northern Arizona University, Columbia University, and of course UNLV. From 1995 until 2003 it was also my pleasure to be part of the Greater Las Vegas Inner City Games, which allowed kids of all back grounds to learn swimming over the summer. I loved those summers because it gave kids the chance to learn a skill that was not too common for inner city youth.
Even though competitive swimming is my love, I take pride instructing the next generation. I focus my lessons on the joys of water exploration and safety around the pool. When a person, no matter their age, enters the water with me they are a swimmer and I am there to encourage and support them. I always work at the students pace and help them to achieve their desired skill level.

About Jim

When I was a child my parents had a swimming pool in our yard and my exceptionally talented cousin taught me how to swim. After learning how to swim I had an understanding of how to be careful in and around the water. This experience opened up a lot of opportunities for me to live and grow.
For many summers I enjoyed working as a lifeguard on the shores of Lake Erie. I have swam competitively on swim teams throughout my life. I made a lot of close friends along the way. I was fortunate enough to get a swimming scholarship while I attended Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.
In college, I took on coaching an age group swim team, and this was very exciting. During one summer I worked as a counselor/coach at the University of Texas Longhorn swimming camp. This trip and many swim meets allowed me to see many places.
After graduating with a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education I came out to Las Vegas to teach second grade for the Clark County School District. Then I acquired my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in mathematics at UNLV.
I have continued to teach swim lessons through private instruction in the summers. I enjoy swimming on a Masters swim team in Las Vegas, and have volunteered as an assistant coach for my team. Being an educator in the classroom and in the pool is very rewarding. I really believe in learning and expanding your knowledge.
Swimming has always been a part of my life in some way and I am happy to make it a part of someone else's life. Whatever your goals are that involve swimming, I would like to help you accomplish them. I look forward to working with you and your child on your journey.
